I was 7 months pregnant, managing a bank branch with 13 employees, and driving to work on an icy morning when I hit another car.
The impact sent me into early labor.
I sat in my front seat and texted my boss. Her response? Auditors were in the office and they needed me there ASAP.
I drove myself to the ER, stayed a few hours, and when everything turned out okay I went straight to my office.
Weeks later I was rocking my sick daughter as my team texted me while still wearing the suit coat I’d been wearing at my office earlier that day.
Through tears, something in me finally said it out loud:
That was the moment everything changed for me. I didn’t all of a sudden get lucky. I didn’t have the luxury of checking out or burning it all down. I just finally got clear on what I did and didn’t want for my own life.
Clarity is not something you either have or don't. It's a decision — and most founders and leaders never actually make it because they're too busy performing their way through chaos.
I see it constantly. Smart, capable people building businesses that technically work but feel completely wrong. Revenue that looks incredible on paper. Teams that are moving but not aligned. A calendar full of the right meetings but none of the right thinking or creating actually happening.
We love to perform even when we say we don’t. Performing gets us recognized, paid & feel important. Our effort is never the problem, neither is strategy usually. It’s the lack of clarity that holds us back.
Clarity about what you actually want, what's actually broken, and what you're willing to stop doing to get there.
When I got clear, in a I cannot keep doing this way — I didn't quit. I didn't blow anything up. I made a decision and started building differently.
I blocked my calendar for my kids' events.
I protected my workouts.
I stopped letting urgency masquerade as importance.
And then the most unexpected thing happened: people started asking me how.
How are you performing at that level and still making your kid's games? How are you managing a team and not running on empty? How are you building this without losing yourself?
I showed them and coached them. Then, they did it too.
Then I built my own business in the exact same way. And now I help founders do it — with their revenue, their teams, their lives.
What this newsletter is…

Every week I'm going to give you one idea, one framework, and one clear path forward — for your business and for the life you're building it around. Because those two things are not separate, no matter how much your spreadsheet wants them to be.
You don't have to compromise your health to build wealth.
You don't have to choose between performance and people.
You don't have to abandon who you are to lead.
You just need clarity on where the real problem is. That's what I'm here for.
Welcome to Uncompromised.
I'm so glad you're here.

I post daily on LinkedIn, come hang out with me.
